Administrative Services Department
With
a rapidly growing City, the service needs of all City departments
also grow. The mechanism that allows City departmental service
needs to be met in the most coordinated and efficient manner
is the Administrative Services Department. This Department
incorporates all administrative support functions in one
department.
Currently, the major support service areas
handled by Administrative Services are:

GIS/Special Districts

Human Resources

Purchasing

Risk Management
With the availability of an Administrative
Services Department umbrella, the mechanism is already in
place to allow future growth in the current areas of responsibility
and expanded support areas of responsibility in the future. Projects & Goals

Meet the City's financial needs by
developing programs that allow for development of alternative
sources of revenue, ensuring proper and efficient expenditure
of current resources and encouraging efficiency in the
delivery of all governmental services.

Ensure all financial reporting systems
contain adequate and reliable data for departments and
the City Council
to base decisions on.

Maintain an effective fixed assets
program.

Continue to refine the central purchasing
program and procedures to allow for greatest efficiency,
communication,
and support for departments.

Enhance risk management and safety
training programs to reduce potential City risks in
general liability,
worker's compensation, unemployment insurance,
automobile liability and general insurance
responsibilities.
Evaluate requests for work force
additions, and analyzing areas of improvement in
recruitment, selection and
testing processes. Maintain an employee
handbook and newsletter
to improve employee knowledge of
City programs and personnel policies.

Establish effective and positive
working relationships with City
employees through
successful labor
negotiations.

Maintain a positive relationship
with local businesses through
proper but fair
enforcement
of the City's
licensing ordinance.
The Administrative Services Department is the support system
for all departments. The general philosophy of the Department
is to serve City departments and help them in their efforts
toward providing quality services to the public.
