Fire Protection District

On July 1, 1989, the Fire Department was legislatively reorganized to become a subsidiary district of the City of Rancho Cucamonga. The reorganization established the City Council as the Board of Directors for the District. The Fire Department now functions as part of the City government, similar to other departments within the City.

The Fire Department is responsible for providing and managing numerous programs for the efficient delivery of fire protection and emergency medical services, as well as other diverse emergency preparedness and response program. Personnel are dedicated to the preservation of life and property in service to the people of Rancho Cucamonga. Our goal is to deliver these services in an effective, efficient and professional manner by utilizing innovative and progressive approaches to fire and life safety services which enhance the quality of life for those we serve.

Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

In October 2004, the Fire District compiled the City's Local Hazard Mitigation Plan to meet the requirements set forth by the state's Office of Emergency Services.  In order to receive federal disaster mitigation funds, local governments are required to have a mitigation plan that describes the process for identifying hazrds, risks and vulnerabilities; identifies and prioritizes mitigation actions; encourages the development of local mitigation; and provides technical support for those efforts.  View the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) for more details.  Please note that all supporting documents referenced are available at the Fire District's Administration Office during normal business hours (Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.).  For more information about the LHMP, contact the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program Coordinator at (909) 477-2770.

2005 Strategic Plan

The Fire District's Strategic Plan identifies that the current needs to adequately serve the District and meet current demands for service.  Some of the major conclusions of the recently completed Fire District Strategic Plan, include the addition of two stations as well as additional personnel for staffing.  The District invites residents and businesspersons to review the 2005 Strategic Plan and provide feedback.
