Streets, Storm Drain and Fleet Maintenance

New Sidewalk and ADA RampThe Street, Storm Drain and Fleet Maintenance group, under the direction of Superintendent Ernest Ruiz, is responsible for the maintenance of the City's roadway system, storm drains, traffic signs, signals and striping. This group also provides graffiti removal and nuisance abatement, weed control, concrete repair, street sweeping and 24-hour-per-day emergency response on safety related issues in the right-of-way. Additionally this group oversees warehouse operations and fleet maintenance.

This group maintains 520 lane miles of roadway, 101 miles of storm drains with 2,200 drainage structures, 188 traffic signals, 22,685 regulatory and traffic signs, and sweeps over 26,800 curb miles per year of streets annually removing 15,210 cubic yards of debris. They also fill more than 3000 potholes per year, use 650 gallons of paint repainting traffic legends, and remove approximately 85,000 square feet of graffiti.
