Facilities Maintenance
Civic Center CourtyardThe Facilities Maintenance group, under the direction of Superintendent Ty Quaintance, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of more than 26 City and Fire District owned buildings, including a community theater, class A baseball stadium, train station, state of the art animal center, 2 libraries, 1 senior center and 1 large and 4 small community centers. This group handles daily operations, physical security, fire/life safety system maintenance, guard services, operation of two central plants, janitorial services, oversees the maintenance and repair of sports lighting, electrical systems, general maintenance, building automation systems, and tenant services for over 1,100,000 square feet of building space. Facilities staff can be found at almost any event 7 days a week and are the “behind the scenes” heroes who make events successful. They set up for meetings, as well as clean up after late night and weekend events. Facilities staff also provides technical assistance during development of new buildings and parks and manages numerous capital maintenance projects each year.

Facilities staff also manages 4 large maintenance contracts (janitorial, HVAC, window washing, and security guards) as well as over 30 smaller contracts. Daily work activities include maintenance of over 8,800 sports and non-sports lighting fixtures, 9 elevators, 1,000 doors, 500 plumbing fixtures, 200 benches, and 300 fire extinguishers, just to mention a few.
