Our Specialized Investigations Division consists of five units or teams;
The
Multiple Enforcement Team, more commonly known as MET, works with our Detective and Patrol Divisions, State Parole Officers, and other local, state, and federal agencies to prevent and suppress illegal drugs, gangs, graffiti, and other major criminal activity. They work directly with State Parole Officers to deter parolees from committing new crimes and conduct parole compliance sweeps. They also conduct surveillance, serve high-risk search warrants, and sex registrant compliance checks.
The
Crime-Free Multi-Housing Unit works with landlords, tenants, property managers, and leasing offices to deter, prevent, and suppress criminal activity in rented or leased properties. They provide training on related topics such as fair screening processes, evictions, "Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design" or CPTED. They coordinate the posting of Crime-Free Multi-Housing signs on properties which participate in the program and certificates are issued for display in leasing and management offices to show the facility has completed all program requirements.
Our
School Resource Officers act as liaisons between the Police Department and K-12 public schools, parents, students, and administrators to enforce laws pertaining to schools and keep schools safe. They act as the law enforcement representative for the school attendance review board, and conduct various programs and presentations at the schools. The School Resource Officer's primary duty is to serve the elementary, middle, or high schools they are assigned to.
The
Gang Unit works with our Patrol, Detective, other Rancho Cucamonga Police Divisions, other local, state, and federal agencies to investigate gang-related crimes. They strive to suppress gang activity, identify gang members living in or frequenting the City of Rancho Cucamonga or the surrounding areas, gather gang intelligence, and assist with criminal cases involving gang members to add gang enhancement charges to gang-related crimes and help document and prove gang affiliations.
The
Graffiti Team works in conjunction with schools, parents, the City of Rancho Cucamonga, and other law enforcement agencies to prevent graffiti and help identify and bring to justice the person(s) responsible for "tagging" and other graffiti vandalism. They are part of the West End Graffiti Task Force, which is a coalition of local law enforcement agencies who work together to identify and prosecute those responsible for graffiti in multiple law enforcement jurisdictions. Our graffiti team works closely with the Rancho Cucamonga Graffiti Removal Program to quickly document and remove graffiti deterring "taggers" by ensuring any graffiti will not be seen by anyone for long.
