Dispute a Parking CitationDedicated To Your Safety

Parking citations are issued by Deputies, Police Officers, Sheriff Service Specialists, Reserve Deputies, Citizen Volunteers, and School Security personnel (on school grounds).  The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department manages all issues associated with parking citations in the City of Rancho Cucamonga.

If you disagree with a parking citation you received and would like to contest it, you have 21 days from the date you were issued the citation, or 14 days from the mailing of the delinquent parking notice, to submit an "Initial Administrative Review Form".  Download and complete the Initial Administrative Review Form, including a statement as to why you believe the parking citation was issued in error.  Please include any supporting documentation such as; photographs, photocopy of handicapped placard and DMV paperwork for that placard, etc. to support your statement.

To contest a parking citation for failure to display a disabled placard

If you are contesting a parking citation for failure to display a disabled placard, and you have a current disabled placard, there is a $25.00 fee for dismissal of the citation.  You can mail the completed Initial Administrative Review Form along with your supporting documentation (copy of the placard and DMV paperwork for the placard), and check or money order made out to City of Rancho Cucamonga (no cash please) or bring the completed paperwork and payment in-person to:

To contest a parking citation for any violation not related to handicapped parking

If you are contesting a parking citation for any violation other than a handicapped parking violation there is no fee associated with the dispute process. You can mail the completed Initial Administrative Review Form along with your supporting documentation or bring the completed paperwork to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department at the address listed above.

Once we have received your Initial Administrative Review form either by mail or in person, a written response will be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks advising you of the decision made regarding your citation.

Administrative Hearing

If you are not satisfied with the results of the Administrative Review, you may further contest the citation by requesting an Administrative Hearing. State Law requires that you pay all fines owed on the citation in advance before you can request the Administrative Hearing.  The Administrative Hearing must be requested within 21 calendar days of the Initial Administrative Review being mailed to you. If  you fail to request the Administrative Hearing within 21 days you will lose the opportunity to further contest the citation.

To request an Administrative Hearing you must appear in-person at the Rancho Cucamonga Police Station during normal business hours, bring proof of payment for the citation, and a hearing will be scheduled at that time.  You must appear at the date and time scheduled, if you fail to appear, you forfeit the right to an Administrative Hearing.  If you are not able to attend an Administrative Hearing in-person you may submit a Written Declaration and request the Hearing Officer to render a decision based on the statement you submitted.

If the Hearing Officer rules in you favor, the City of Rancho Cucamonga will issue you a refund within 30 days for the fine amount you paid for the citation.  If the Hearing Officer does not rule in your favor, the fine amount you paid will be applied as payment in full for the citation.
