Public Information and Services is responsible for providing timely and accurate information to the public through our counter at City Hall, as well as by phone or e-mail. If you have a question about development going on in the City, this is your first stop.
Current Planning is primarily responsible for review, analysis and processing of all development applications and ensuring all projects are in compliance with the Development Code; consistent with the goals and policies of the General Plan; and in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). A planner is assigned to a project from design to occupancy. If you have a question about a specific project that cannot be answered by our Public Information and Services team, you may be referred to the project planner for their expertise.
Advanced Planning is primarily responsible for the administration and update of the General Plan and Specific Plans; conducting special studies; managing our Historic Preservation Program and responding to other governmental entities/jurisdictions on a variety of planning projects and regulations.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is administered by the Planning Department. CDBG funds hundreds of activities, ranging from public facilities to public services and housing to economic development based on the community’s needs.
Records Management is the group behind the scenes of it all. They are primarily responsible for ensuring that all documents generated by the Planning Department are accurate and consistent in form. They are also responsible for producing notices, agendas and minutes for the Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Design Review Committee, Trails Committee and Planning Director Hearings.
