City Council Subcommittees

The Council has the following subcommittees on which two Council Members serve to consider assigned areas of City programs/functions, provide feedback to staff, and make recommendations to the full City Council on related policy matters and Commission/Foundation appointments.  Appointments are shown effective March 1, 2011. These committees meet on an as-needed basis throughout the year.

Subcommittees:

  • Community Services Subcommittee (Michael and Spagnolo) - Reviews and recommends on matters relating to the Community Services Department.
  • Community Development/Historic Preservation Subcommittee (Buquet and Williams) - Reviews and recommends on matters relating to the Planning or Historic Preservation functions of the City.
  • Development Code Amendment for Alternate Landscape Requirements Ad Hoc Committee (Buquet and Williams) - Preparation of development code amendments to address alternate landscape requirements. 
  • Housing Set Aside Subcommittee (Michael and Alexander) - Reviews and recommends on matters relating to the use of the Redevelopment Agency’s Housing Set Aside Funds.
  • Library Subcommittee (Alexander and Williams) - Reviews and recommends on matters relating to the Archibald and Paul A. Biane Library.
  • Mobile Home Accord Standing Committee (Alexander and Spagnolo) - Responsible for negotiations of accord. Meets only when negotiations are necessary. 
  • Public Works Subcommittee (Buquet and Williams) - Reviews and recommends on matters relating to the activities of the Public Works Department. 
  • Redevelopment Marketing Subcommittee (Buquet and Williams) - Reviews and recommends on matters relating to Redevelopment activities.

    Ad Hoc Committees:

    • Metro Gold Line Ad Hoc Task Force (Michael and Williams) - Discuss and recommend on matters relating to the Metro Gold Line.
    • Refuse Service Levels and Illegal Dumping Ad Hoc Committee (Spagnolo and Williams) - Discuss and recommend on service levels, fees and development of procedures to discourage illegal dumping in the City.
