The Fire District’s Prevention Bureau, under the direction of Fire Marshal Rob Ball, is a comprehensive risk and hazard reduction program.  The Bureau’s efforts are guided by the District’s Risk Reduction Goal:

The District will incorporate health and life-safety risk reduction strategies as an integral component of all of its services in order to protect natural resources, secure the economic vitality of the community and improve the quality of life for its citizens.

The responsibilities of the Bureau include:

• Adopting and Administering the Fire Code
• Inspecting High Hazard and High Risk Occupancies Annually
• Issuing Permits Required by the California Fire Code
• Managing the City’s Weed and Fire Hazard Abatement Program
• Providing Local Fire Code Interpretation Standards to the Building & Safety Department, Fire Construction Services, and the Construction Industry
• Creating Fire Code Guidance Documents to assist residents and businesses with understanding the intent of the Fire Code

The Bureau is staffed with full-time Fire Prevention Specialists and part-time Fire Prevention Technicians and Assistants, each of whom is a well-trained and dedicated Prevention professional who is dedicated to the safety and well-being of the community.
